Kitchens, bathrooms and renovations across Mid Sussex

A Sussex builder with an eye for detail

MCM Design & Build is Mike Manwaring. Twenty-five years in the trade, based in Lindfield, and fussy about the bits most people never see.

Builder first, fitter second

Plenty of firms fit kitchens. Fewer can build the extension the kitchen goes into, put in the steel that opens the room up, and get it all signed off by Building Control.

That’s where Mike started, and it’s why MCM’s kitchens and bathrooms tend to look right. The wall behind the units is flat because it was boarded and skimmed properly. The floor under the bath was checked before the bath arrived. The tiles land evenly at both corners because someone set them out from the middle.

Mike signs off his Instagram posts the same way every time: Care and attention, as always. It’s a fair summary of how he works.

More than kitchens

Past jobs include a first-floor extension in Haywards Heath tile hung to match the original house, a two-storey rear extension in Lindfield and a bespoke media wall.

In clients’ own words

Rated 5.0 on Google.

Needed a prompt resolution during a property sale where Building Regs had not been adhered to. Mike responded quickly and positively following the study of a structural report. After deliberation he found a solution for installing a concrete lintel to support a steel without interrupting / damaging a newly fitted kitchen. Amazing to watch his creativity and the job was completed within 48 hrs. Dismantled, installed, signed-off, repaired, plastered with no visible damage. He has a respected standing with local Building Control and is technically very sound, neat and has a very good eye for detail and finish. Sale went through and I cannot recommend Mike highly enough.

Mike was very thorough from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. The quality of all his work was brilliant. Our project involved stripping out old heating, plumbing and electrics, knocking down an internal wall, raising one floor, fitting out two new bathrooms, overseeing the new heating, plumbing and electrics, replastering as needed, refining all floorboards, building cupboards and much more.
